SONG RELEASE: "Sweet Dreams"-A Love Story about Murder

Musically, “Sweet Dreams” by NUUMUUN leans into a warm, roots-oriented country and Americana sound, using the tradition of country storytelling to give the song much of its emotional character. Rather than relying on elaborate production, the music feels built around the story—the vocal delivery, melody, and instrumentation creating the sense that someone is sitting down and telling you about a moment from their life.

What stands out is the song’s narrative quality. Like classic country and folk music, “Sweet Dreams” allows the listener to follow an emotional journey rather than simply repeating a single idea. The lyrics feel conversational and personal, while the country influence gives the story a sense of familiarity and timelessness. There is tenderness in the performance, but also a subtle melancholy beneath it—the kind of emotional contrast that has always been central to great country songwriting.

The arrangement complements that storytelling approach. Its rootsy character creates space around the vocals, allowing the words and melody to remain at the center. Instead of overwhelming the listener, the music supports the narrative, giving “Sweet Dreams” the feeling of a story remembered and retold through song.

RECENT RELEASE "Terror Town"

NUUMUUN’s “Terror Town” is the closing track on her 2026 album Where The Mountain Meets The Waves. At 4:29, it follows “Stay Like This” and brings the seven-song record to its conclusion.

“Terror Town” takes listeners into the darker corners of NUUMUUN’s musical landscape—a place where fear, memory, uncertainty, and emotional unrest collide. More than a physical destination, Terror Town becomes a state of mind: the place we inhabit when the world around us begins to feel unfamiliar and the things we once trusted no longer feel safe. Yet beneath the darkness lies defiance. The song is ultimately about recognizing fear without surrendering to it, finding strength within uncertainty, and discovering that sometimes the only way out of Terror Town is to walk directly through it. As the closing track of Where The Mountain Meets The Waves, it leaves the listener at the edge of darkness and transformation—changed by the journey, but not defeated by it.NUUMUUN’s

“Terror Town” is one of the darker and more psychologically charged songs in NUUMUUN’s world—a song about recognizing the fear, instability, and emotional chaos that can exist beneath the surface of a place, a relationship, or even within ourselves.

The title “Terror Town” suggests more than a literal location. It can be understood as a metaphorical place we enter when fear begins controlling our choices. It is the town built from anxiety, painful memories, unhealthy relationships, social pressures, and the voices that tell us we cannot escape. In that sense, Terror Town can be anywhere—and leaving it requires confronting what frightened us in the first place.

What makes the concept especially interesting as the final song on Where The Mountain Meets The Waves is its placement. The album moves through songs such as “The Runaway,” “Too In Love,” “The Somber,” “Pixie,” and “Stay Like This” before arriving at “Terror Town.” Seen as an emotional journey, “Terror Town” can feel like the moment when the romanticism and nostalgia of earlier songs give way to something more unsettling and raw.

There is also an element of defiance in the idea. The narrator does not necessarily belong to Terror Town simply because she has found herself there. Recognizing the darkness becomes the first act of escaping it. Fear may surround her, but it does not have to define her

Mainland Container Co. Kitchen & Bar — A Mount Pleasant Backyard for Live Music

Just off Ben Sawyer Boulevard on the way toward Sullivan’s Island, Mainland Container Co. Kitchen & Bar has developed into one of Mount Pleasant’s quintessential neighborhood music hangouts. Rather than operating like a traditional concert venue, Mainland combines a restaurant and bar with a large outdoor patio, oak trees and regular live performances. The result feels more like a Lowcountry backyard party with a stage than a conventional music club.

The Founders: Harris Khan and Mary Schultz have created an incredible venue with excellent food and atmosphere both inside and out.  It's another unique venue for performers and audiences in and around the Charleston area.

Playing Live at Jams Island! Big Shout out to Evan Hynes

Thanks to Evan for providing the opportunity for us to Jam on James Island!

It was a chance to try out some new material on a local crowd.

Some of the most important parts of a music community happen on the smallest stages.

Jams Island, an open mic on James Island, is a great example. Hosted by musician Ev Hynes, the gathering gives local musicians a place to get onstage, try something new, meet other artists, and simply play. Recent Jams Island events have been held at Smoke N Brew on James Island.

What makes an open mic like Jams Island special isn't necessarily who's headlining—it's who might walk through the door.

You might hear an experienced musician testing a new song, someone performing in public for the first time, or musicians who have never played together suddenly collaborating.

That's how a local music scene grows.

Open mics provide a low-pressure entry point for new performers while giving established musicians a place to experiment and connect. Friendships are made, bands can form, and musicians discover people they may eventually share stages and projects with.

Charleston has plenty of established venues and festivals, but gatherings like Jams Island are part of the foundation underneath all of that.

They give people a place to start.

Bring an instrument. Bring a song. Meet some people. Listen to somebody new.

Sometimes that's all it takes to build a music community.
